No real purpose to this group other than to post some of my work (vector patterns), to store gifts and to organize some of my "collections" -- You are more than welcome to join in (especially with posting your original patterns) or to just browse.

I love making patterns. I started making them when I realized I needed to learn to use more than the basics in Illustrator.

These patterns are posted in my gallery on deviantART, but wanted to share them here. They are seamless, vector patterns created in Illustrator CS4. Some of them also contain the brushes I used to create them.

If you have created a pattern, whether or not it's been "published" to ColourLovers, please feel free to share it. There are many ColourLovers that have submitted patterns -- some published, some VERY delayed.

If you see something that you wish were published, I suggest you place a request to the site by sending an email to love@colourlovers.com.

If you don't have Illustrator, let me know and I will save any of these patterns in layered Photoshop format and send you the link.

my first aloha pattern -- it uses too many colors to be submitted to ColourLovers (plus I'm not real fond of it). You can download it here.

This pattern was featured in "10 Stunning Vector Pattern Sets for Adobe Illustrator".

My first submission to ColourLovers that has been added to the pattern collection. You can find it under "floral". You can download the vector pattern here.

I was VERY honored to have this pattern used as a border on the City and County of Honolulu Transportation Services website.

The ADD was kicking in during a VERY boring teleconference -- my way of doodling. Download it here.

Another pattern -- kind of boring -- but I was trying to get a real "tile" effect. Download it here.

I was tired of the one paisley pattern on ColourLovers, so I purchased a "paisley brush" and made this one. You can download it here.

Inspiration comes from many places -- this one was from my youngest daughter's pajama bottoms. You can download this pattern here.

My 3rd "aloha" pattern -- I love Hawaii and everything it represents. You can download this pattern here.

I was looking to create a less realistic pattern -- sort of "art deco" -- and came up with this one. It can be downloaded here.

I first started conversing with else432 on deviantART. She was one of the people that encouraged me to submit my patterns to this site. This is a pattern I created for her. It can be downloaded here.

This pattern was featured on Vector4free.com.

This pattern was created for another ColourLover -- Skyblue2u. It can be downloaded here.

Jill, what a great idea! I've been so frustrated, too, that most of the patterns I've created have never been implemented on COLOURlovers. It's discouraged me so much that I've stopped making patterns, and probably won't try again until new patterns start appearing again.

I, too, started making (seamless, tiled) patterns to learn Illustrator, but I was still at the beginner level. While my patterns don't come close to yours, Jill, I really feel I've made visible progress. So here they are from oldest to newest.

WOW! These are great! You've made amazing progress! I love them all and the colors are wonderful!

Have you looked into setting up an account on http://www.deviantart.com? That's where I started posting mine (using their free account). It was surprising how many downloads I had and that is where I was "discovered" by some of the vector art sites.

jilbert

I asked miice -- if you were a pattern, what would you be? This is for you miice -- look real close and you will see the tiger ...

This pattern can be downloaded here and contains both the vector tile and layered Photoshop CS4.

When I posed my pattern question to Trixxie she replied "lying in the sun with my eyes closed and seeing all the wild spacey colors flow from one to the next to the next to the next........."

I immediately started humming ... "girl with kaleidoscope eyes" --

This pattern can be downloaded here and contains both the vector tile and layered Photoshop CS4.

You ladies are amazing. Greenmyeyes, I love your stuff. Now I need to go see if I can learn how to do this. I have Corel stuff. I have the tools but lack the time and motivation of late. I am glad to be amongst creative women such as yourselves.

GreenMyEyes

@Jill, I continue to be entranced by your work -- they show such creativity!

@Highwireart, although I taught myself Photoshop (and there's still plenty I don't know there), I don't think I could have learned Illustrator without some training. I used Lynda.com, and their training has been excellent. I finished their course on Illustrator CS3, and now I've been working though AI CS4, and things are starting to click. I've recently upgraded to Photoshop CS4, and shortly will be taking their course in that. I can highly recommend it -- I see they do have courses in CorelDRAW.

GreenMyEyes

I have a few more patterns which I didn't bother submitting to COLOURlovers, since nothing was happening with my other palettes. But I might as well post theme here, and hope that I will submit them someday.

@GME -- Love these patterns! I'm still submitting patterns with the comment "I know you aren't uploading anything -- still -- but wanted to get into the queue" ... I really think you should create an account on deviantART and posts these ... I'd be glad to help with with the little I know (that is, if you need it). BTW -- I did find out that CL patterns support "simple" two-color gradients, but not transparencies.

@HWA -- I agree with GreenMyEyes -- there's a lot to learn with a vector program such as Illustrator. At one time I used Freehand since it was closer to the MCAD packages I had been using. One thing let to another and I've been converted to Illustrator. But it is a steep learning curve and can be VERY frustrating at times -- again, probably due to my background (I want exact measurements, lengths, placement, etc.).
