Yesterday's religions are today's mythologies. Today's religions are tomorrow's mythologies.

I agree that it's a good idea to avoid (in a public forum) topics like the religions of today that have wreaked and continue to wreak havoc on lots of people's lives. E.g. Buddhism generally has not done as much damage as the organized religions of Christianity and Islam have. Doesn't mean there are not good and decent Christians and Muslims, but in public groups like IF, it'd be better to avoid topics like those religions, IMO. Many people are not Christian or Muslim, there are other types of people on CL and we should not assume that everyone is exactly alike. Anyone can always open groups for specifically religious themes.

Or at least, if there is to be a religious themed challenge, then those of us who question religion should feel just as welcome creating and posting palettes and patterns that question, challenge, confront or satirize organized religions like Christianity and Islam, as freely as those who subscribe to those institutions.

I like the "Gods and Goddesses" theme and the Mythology theme, though, ycc. Thanks :)

Oh and I LOVE this painting, word :)

''The Fall of the Giants from Mount Olympus' maybe?

..... and isn't Gods and Godesses religious in nature? Or is it just Monothesim and living religions we have a problem with? Personally I'm good with either but I'm just saying....

more title / subtitle suggestions for the mythology theme:
"Olympus & Parnassus"
"Gods & Myths"

P.S.
- the first painting that comes to my mind is Botticelli´s "Birth of Venus"
- Mouse´s pick goes great with the Olympus title!
- Google Search "Olympus Mythology" brings better results than only "Olympus"

Thanks xee!
I had read your comment on the day you wrote it - I just didn't either:
busy elsewhere or wasn't in my mind
but I wanted to thank your input - I sometimes feel lost and having your opinion is really a big help.
With mousy and your OK I felt the subject was secure =)

Thanks! If you find and good image resources, share them as you usually do on the IFword page

PS: I did also hesitated with
chapel sistines frescos but I thought it's not actually mythology - dead beliefs
and View of olympus - Room of the giants

but for mythology it would have been much easier then olympus

Wasn't it you YCC who suggested Disney for the APC?
Has Disney been done here as an IF? I'd love Disney.
