Haiku poetry is small enough that color names, combined into palettes, can be read as a poem.
Bring your poetic pen, named colors or selected existing ones to compose your own original Haiku or use an existing poem by someone else to inspire your color choices. You can even combine your colors with colors of others.
If you are not a poet, why not make a pattern from one of our haiku palettes?

To get things started, let me share how this group came to be.

The day before this group was launched, Symea set the bar very high by searching through countless color names inside CL to compose a haiku. Not only was the palette beautiful, the poem was excellent. None of the color names were from her profile. I couldn't say I'd be able to do this myself.

Spring for no reason
Fall in gold, beaten copper
Summer sands burnning...

Here is where you click to read the Haiku Blog Article published in April of 2011.

Keep creating beautifully.

Symea, I remember you looking for a group like this =)

Added to the list of active groups/challenges =)

Thanks YCC - that's why I want to get a graphic up so people can get a really good first impression.

Where do I post a palette where I have named all the colors myself? There isn't a conversation for that in the group (yet). Here's a recent example:
Sea_of_Pink_HPP

Could we have a conversation perhaps called "Haiku Colors Made Only by You" or something of that nature?

It's great how this groups made me start writing haikus again!

HAIZ I have an idea for this group. How about starting a thread where the challenge is to take the last 5-syllable line from the previous palette and use it to construct a new one as the first line?

ketisse

Now that sounds like a really good idea that incorporates the way haikus were constructed in groups historically. Wordlinking has a thread that takes the last color and continues. I welcome others to participate in this discussion before I set up the thread (it won't happen before next month).

Let's discuss first. Post if you're interested or have insight into this topic. I'll probably do a little research too so that when the thread launches, we will know how it is going to go.

I think it's pretty challenging and why not try))Here is something we did with CLover Isoli today -he had a palette with colours that were named the same name the palette had and I asked him to write a HAIKU and change the names,so he was very kind to change the colour names with the written HAIKU and now I don't know where to post it.If here is OK let me know ketisse))Thanks

I MEANT THAT i ASKED HIM IF HE WOULD LIKE TO GHANGE THE COLOUR NAMES IF I WRITE A HAIKU FOR HIS PALETTE))HOPE YOU'LL UNDERSTAND ME CORRECTLY))

ketisse

I want to caution about changing existing color names if you don't check first to see if any other word-based palettes/patterns have been made from them. I am generally averse to changing the name and/or composition of any creation here because of the effect it can have on other creations. The only exception I can think of is when the creation is set up with the understanding that changes will be made later. You can always make another one of whatever it is for free. If I clicked love on it, I want it to stay the same as it was when I clicked. ~ ketisse
