Sundancer!! Many many thanks!!

sundancer

My job gave me extra hours as they let one of their employees go and I have taken up her hours so that's why the quilt's not done yet. But never fear, i am working hard!

joonmoon

sundancer, the quilt looks beautiful!! You're doing a fantastic job!
Can you or Penina talk about who it is going to? That person must be very special to be getting such a wonderful gift!

sewfunciful

Im with you Penina! **GASP!!** is right!. Collective round of applause to Sundancer the "rock star" please.

Penina

About who it's going to: I replied to joonmoon via Love Note.
More details in a broadcast email soon, but everyone: hit me up via Love Note if you have questions.

"The last days and hours of a project are a very delicate, very fragile time. Like the last minutes before birth—be patient, give care."

I promised Penina and Molly that I'd send the quilt tomorrow finished or unfinished and by golly gee wiz I just finished it and it's going in the mail tomorrow. HORRAY!
I cut out the binding, ironed it in half, I pinned it down, I pinned the "sandwich," I quilted the sandwich together, I sewed the binding on, and I hand stitched it on. The last step alone took six hours and the quilting a full day and a good chunk of a night. But it's complete!

Ironing the binding in half.

Pinning on the binding.

Placing the other layers down, lining them up, pulling them taut, and smoothing them down.

One of the very last stitches of the whole quilt. A wonderful feeling after three weeks of pain.

The end result is stunning with a couple errors, but my mother in law saw it and said she was very proud of me and the errors is what makes it uniquely homemade and not whipped out of a factory. I think it turned out beautiful and I'm simply happy that it's over! I've never pumped out a quilt in such a short amount of time before... certainly not a queen sized quilt!

Breathtaking! You have done an absolutely fabulous job! :) :)

sundancer

Thanks a bunch! :-) This whole idea rocked, actually. I still can't get over how freaky it was that Ketisse and I thought so similarly.

Penina

Before, I wanted to fly out to AZ to give sundancer a hand with quilting.
NOW, I want to fly out so I can give her a BIG HUG!!!!

Fabulous job! My hat is off to all involved, especially sundancer for bringing it all together. Sadly I was not able to participate in this project as I didn't discover this wonderful group until after all the quilt squares were done, however I look forward to any other project the group comes up with :)

Penina

Thanks for the LOVE!

@crystalwoods and all: There will definitely be more projects… :-)

Well, I'm off to Jo Ann's to buy some more binding as I've run out and miscalculated how much i needed to buy. WHOOO HOOOO! I really hate deadlines but this beautiful project is nearly completed. Notice I said BINDING which you know means it's the end of the quilt time!!!!
This is an old picture, but the borders are already cut out and sewed on and I only have a few more steps to completion!
Da Spoonflower Colourlovers Quilt!
Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone! I'm already looking forward to seeing what the next project will be.

Sundancer - you are amazing!!
Penina - when you say blog is on it's way, is that CL's blog?

BTW, did everybody see Leah's apron?

Penina

Yes, CL blog. Wish I had time to do something for my own. A little overextended at the moment. :-)

PS: Yes, that's my favorite photo, too!
