I think it would be neat if you can take some of your favorite palettes and add them onto your main page by using them to color the page. I love colorlovers, but all the gray is boring sometimes...What if you could colorize your main page with your favorite palette, or have the option to make your palettes into your icon...

And... we don't want profiles starting to look like seizure inducing myspace pages... so we're working to find a balance :)

there is a solution that affects only your view of the site, catch is you have to be using firefox.

Ah...MySpace, bane of my visual capabilities. I'm so thankful I never really jumped on that bandwagon.

I think having the site all grey does help the colours stand out—although it isn't boring at all—but that would be nice. Just, you know, within reasonable limits.

Awww, lostmy, thanks for the mention! :) Basically if you have Firefox you can install an Add-on called Stylish. This lets you apply your own CSS to any webpage you fancy. Only you see it, so it saves everyone else from MySpace hell. ;) Then head on over to Userstyles and see if someone has already written a stylesheet for the site you're on.

I've done a few simple ones for COLOURlovers and I would recommend leaving the grey around the palettes because otherwise, as Darius says, it detracts from why we're here. All my styles are commented up so you can easily change to whatever colours/patterns you fancy.

If anyone does use any of mine, do drop me a love note, love to know they're useful for someone else. :D

You can do a bit of customization if you know some html. It's a bit of work, but for me it was certainly worth it. See Phreestyle's home page and my home page.

that's what i hate most about myspace, and i don't want it to happen here. that's great that only you can see it. :)

i love the gray for exactly the reason Darius said - it makes the colours so much more special!

I agree some people's myspace pages give me a headache.

I agree however that the grey does get boring sometimes. I would be perfectly happy with just minor customizations or having a few other pre-picked themes to choose from that have just a bit more color.

Why did I quit MySpace? Oh yes, because of those pages.

I enjoy the site being grey. Should customisable profiles be allowed, I think there should be the option to disable it so we can revert to good ol' grey.

Interesting discussion! I'm happy with having grey on the main page or on any other page, although if I have a choice, I would like the "create colour" page to have a white background, which would help me visualise the colour better, especially when creating very soft greys like this: ;-)

It would be nice to custom out pages with colour, but I do like the gray. It is so sophisticated! I agree with Darius as ut just makes the palettes, patterns and colours pop out. If anything, we could use out colours to add accents to our pages, though not make it too colourful. I like to concentrate on the creations.

If anything. I LOVE the gray. I would have a heart attack if this site looked like myspace.

as for the icon... download your palette & then upload it as an icon... that's what i did for the group "Asian Influence" & I know I've seen others do the same...

I hate to be a hater but I liked the site before, you know half a year ago. Now there is too many grays, it gets busy even though it has no hue. Also there is a bunch of grey everywhere but then everything has a thin white border surrounded by a thicker dark grey, ie., palettes, bio boxes, etc. I personally think less is more. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that I like the grey, just not so many grey's and less busy.

I wish I had a screenshot of the old design, anybody out there happen to have taken one?

BTW I love all the new fucntions and additions just not the color update as much...

I love the gray, but I think some gray variations would be nice. red grays, blue grays, green grays. ya know. the works.


no hot pinks, or neons though. that would be sensory overload! especially on a page like mine. hehe. I love my brights :D
