I would love pallette downloads for gimp

eighthmuse

I think I'd want it once I download Gimp . . . my parents are currently averse to buying me Photoshop for my Mac, so I've been investigating possible alternatives.

I agree, it'd be a nice feature, even if it's catering to a smallish niche.

Ayelie

Would definitely be a great feature to have. More people than you might think use the GIMP - and I, even though I do have Photoshop/Illustrator/etc., tend to use it for a lot of things I find photoshop sucks at ;)

susatoetoe

me too :) (gimp rox!)

The palette for the gimp...mmm...the extenction is wrong! For the latest version it's .pat! Please change it!!! THNX!!!

J-man

Isn't .pat the pattern extension? I downloaded a palette and it worked fine as it was..

I've try to download some pattern but the extension was wrong...I don't remember what extension was but for the gimp 2.4.5 doesn't work...T-T...

The file that I try to download have .gpl extension...that doesn't work for my version of the gimp...I'm so sad...T-T...

J-man

Uh.. .gpl is the GIMP palette extension. Colourlovers doesn't export the patterns for GIMP, just the palettes.

/confused.

I love Gimp! I wish they could really let us download it.
Gimp is a very commonly used graphics program. At least update the download to .pat or .png?

Just Perfect Color

GimpShop is free and open source too and is rather cool since it works, for the most part, like PhotoShop. It is built on Gimp. Palette downloads would be fun.

How do you find colors "related" to a given one? I've quoted "related" because I've used it in a special meaning I don't know the proper term for.

Let me explain. Suppose you have the bluish RGB color "#002b36": what would this color be if it were greenish, reddish, etc instead of bluish? How is such relationship among colors called? Is there a way to calculate such "related" colors? Should I convert the RGB encoding to something else, first?

I've tried permutating the R, G and B values, but that does not seem to be a solution.

Thank you.
