Option to show palette with black (or no) frame

isotope.1…
24 Jan, 2008
Now that I have been using COPASO to create palettes, one thing is starting to bug me a little. Since COPASO has a black background, I have been playing with darker colors a lot more. The problem is that when I view the palette in its normal state, the white frame that surrounds the palette tends to overpower any subtlety among darker colors. It would be swell if we could choose whether the palette will display with a white border or with black (on its own page, not necessarily in any list formats.) Or perhaps even lose the border completely like what has happened with the edit color pages.

I also find that the dark background and surrounds of copaso makes it difficult to judge. I would prefer to have copaso's background change to be paler.

Giving this a bump because it's the same problem I'm having.

COPASO is awesome, but the entire page is much darker than the page on which a palette is displayed. This makes it easier, when working in COPASO, to see subtle contrast that ends up lost once the palette is published. I've tried working on the same palette in COPASO and the standard editor at the same time, but because there are so many white fields on the standard editor, it's even harder to see contrast there than when it is published. Making these backgrounds all the same colour (potentially even the input fields) would be very helpful.

I think that's essentially what http://www.colourlovers.com/forums/2,6,1219/Dark_background_for_light_colors is asking for, too.

What would be great is if we could chose what color the area around the palette is in copaso. I found when I was using dark colors it was almost impossible for me to see them!

So, either full control of white to black or maybe white/50%grey/black toggle would be super.

Even just changing the colour scheme of COPASO to match the rest of the site -- shades of grey with a white background/border for the actual workspace -- would help a lot, honestly. I'm echoing this cry for help! ♥

tensaiface you've just written my very thoughts lol, i've often wished for the same colours on COPASO as the rest of the site, the effect it has on the colours i choose is subtle but noticable to me and sometimes i admit i feel a bit dissapointed as a result.

i notice the differences too, but i like making palettes on a darker background. maybe just not as dark as it is now - just the dark gray of the site, but not a white working ground. i don't know...

i would like to be able to see the colour names when they're in the scratch, like you can when you're searching them. sometimes i choose based on name more than colour, but once they're in the scratch i can't remember the exact name, if i have several colours there. if we could look at the name there, too it would be helpful.

I am all for an adjustable COPASO background colour. There could be a slider on the side that adjusted it from white to gray to black.

Love your ideas!

On my own website elsewhere, where I have a lot of little color swatches in tables, analyzing color names, hues and saturation levels, I have had good luck with a combination thin black AND white frame simultaneously. That way the colors always stand out, regardless of what they are.

Got'ta work on that someday. Too much fun here at CL for that... ;-D
