I would like those more-than-5-color palettes :)

I like this idea!
Perhaps there could be a range from 2 colors to 8 colors, and the widths would adjust automatically?

Yeah - why limit the palette to 5 colours? I need more colour in my life than that :)

I prefer the five color palette. I find I often can create graphic designs that I feel satisfied with if I impose some limitations.

I think the adjustable width idea is good. And allowing 2-8 would allow us to work with more combinations.

i'd rather just have 5 :)

it makes things much easier and like greenmyeyes said

I love having just 5 colours! I can't imagine having any more...5 seems to be the perfect balance.

I do agree that it isn't enough. Perhaps even have a split-palette? Top 8 and bottom 8 (eight is a good number. It's how many tones are in a scale, and it's how many colours are on a painter's palette, usually). I would use at least eight, if not top and bottom eight. Top and bottom would be for light tones and dark tones, and a single eight would just be for a wider range of colours (like for example, if I wanted to include enough tones to provide the correct colours for a painting of a park, I would need at least six).

Great idea!

More than five would be interesting, but what about new patterns to accommodate the additional colours? I like using five colours--sometimes I don't even use that many--but it would still be nice to have the option to use more if I wanted to.

I would love to see more than five also -- leave the 'default' at five, but give options to have more or less.

The five color palette is fantastic and conducive to graphic design. I would, however, be interested to have the option of making palettes with more colors for artistic purposes (as often the palette itself is art).

i like 5, but there's a few times where i wish i had 6... not really for different colors, but different shades of 1 of the previously used colors....

if there were more than 5, people could still choose to use just 5.... just like it is now.... so, i think having the option to use more than 5 would be a great idea....

I would love to have adjustable. -- or at least max out at 7.

I totally third this. 5 is plenty, really, and having an odd number makes it more interesting and yet balanced, in a way. It would look too neat to have 6 or 8, and I think 7 is way too many.

Most of the time I'm perfectly content with five colors; but there have been times where I wished I had just one more color to capture my idea and had to content myself with leaving one color out, or adjusting the colors I had chosen to compensate for the absence of that sixth color.

So I won't say I don't want more, because if it were an option, I'd use more than 5 once in a while.

IIRC, there are 6 tones to a scale. A "normal" 8-note scale has 5 tones and 2 semitones. I think you probably mean "It's how many notes are in a scale..."

I like the five colours, personally, but it would be nice to add a couple more occasionally. Default at five with the option to add more sounds good.

yes, great idea, the only thing is about patterns with a fixed number of colours ... in this case the next numbers would be repeated randomly?

I absolutely agree on this "more than 5 color palette" idea! Sounds wonderful^^
It could be an option by itself, no ties with patterns. I would be totally happy with that! =^.^=

This conversation comes up over and over again. One more time, I would like to express my preference for the existing five color palette. I find I work a lot better, and more creatively, when I'm dealing within certain constraints. I find that the limitation of five colors works very well for me. I am not creating a painting, I am showing the emotional relationship between a set of colors. I know when I see a website, or a logo, or a strong graphic, I find it more pleasing with fewer colors than with many.

No more than five colours, please.

Constraint and brevity are such boons to creativity.

I'm with the "I don't really need it but sometimes I do find myself wanting to add one more shade in there" group. It's good to have limitations too.

Yes, more than five, please. If you want to be constrained to five, select five. If you want more, give us the option. Please.
