Well, we did all have fun with the Lucky Oliver contest. I wouldn't mine participating in something like that again.

yeah but the contest didn't help lucky oliver at all, they went out of business like 2 months later lol

cash prize = bad idea

I'm not opposed to cash prizes as an alternative to the value of the prize... some of our lovers that live out of country don't have an easy way to get something mailed to them... it can sometimes be easier to paypal them the value of the prize and let them do what they want with the money.

They can set up a diverse panel of judges to choose the winner. I don't think everyone should be allowed to vote otherwise as said it would be a poppularity contest. Gather up the best artists and staff to judge. I understand colors are subjective but so is art. I am not sure why so many people are against this idea. Cash, paypal, check, giftcard is fine with me. Plus I think the costs of setting up contests can easily be offset. Just an idea dont crucify me, I think its a good idea.

The reason I hate this idea, Soul Bee, is that it emphasizes competitiveness. I'd like to see the orientation of the site continue to be sharing and helping, even though the voting system somewhat distracts from this.

I think it is not possible to make contest in something like music or colours. I can't imagine competing David Bowie, Prince and Pavarotti in one contest, which one would win? Why?

Some people dig the arbitrary art judgment thing I guess, but I'm not one of them

I really enjoyed the Lucky Oliver Contest. I was thrilled to receive honorable mention, but the best part was the challenge of making the palettes and seeing everyone else's creative work.
