Looking for answers to your color questions, have some advice to give... or simply want to get to know your fellow COLOURlovers? You're in the right place.
Barb, thank you for the very valuable feedback. I see two possibilities:
- The process got fixed in the past few weeks without any notice from CL whatsoever (very unlikely).
- The process is not entirely broken, simply unreliable, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (I guess this is the case then).
As long as it's unreliable, I see no reason not to treat it as broken, and using the badge is a nice way to let the community know. That said, if you feel like risking, there's also no reason for you not to try purchasing another sponsorship, but there's no guarantee it will work again. There has been a lot of reports from other users that the process doesn't work, my guess would be that you simply got lucky. The safest option is waiting until someone says something official about this, but don't hold your breath.

It seems that the COLOURlovers team has finally taken care of the issue with sponsorship payments. For more details on how to make your sponsorship work if it doesn't, please see Molly's official announcement.
To those of you who have put this badge on your profiles, first of all, thank you very much for taking part in the initiative and helping out the community by spreading the word. And second, please consider leaving the new, modified badge on for a week or two before removing it, so that anyone having heard about the issue may know it has finally been resolved. You don't have to do anything; your badge has already been updated for you.
If you paid for sponsorship at any point during the past year without actually receiving it, and the workaround in Molly's announcement doesn't do it for you, please send a love note to Molly directly about the issue (as per her request).
Thank you all again, you rock!
This is a badge to warn you that the sponsorship purchase process has been working unreliably for a while now. Normally, when you purchase a COLOURlovers sponsorship, COLOURlovers redirects you to PayPal for you to pay $20 – the annual sponsorship fee. Once you've made the payment, PayPal sends you back to COLOURlovers, and you should immediately turn into a sponsor. Trouble is, while PayPal's services work as expected – and consequently, your $20 is successfully subtracted from your balance –, COLOURlovers occasionally fails to process the successful payment, and as a result, you don't receive anything for your money.
Can't we just contact somebody about the issue?
We wish we could. Users who have already gone through the ordeal attempted to contant everyone we could think of, including Darius, Aaron, Chris, COLOURlovers support, Creative Market support, and AutoDesk, to no avail. While one user has managed to reach Darius once, due to a miscommunication the issue is unfortunately still not being addressed. You can read about all this in more detail in the original Sponsorship Issue thread.
Then what can we do?
We can let others know about the issue and save them from the hassle of going through it all, by putting this badge on our profiles.
What if I have already paid?
Your best bet is opening a PayPal dispute. PayPal will give the seller (Creative Market) some time to react, and when the time is up, you will be able to escalate your dispute into a claim. PayPal will eventually give your money back to you.
Okay, gimme the badge code!
Here you go. Please paste the following code on the top of your profile info.
What should I do if the sponsorship purchase process gets fixed?
Nothing, we'll take care of updating your badge for you! Once it can, it will spread the good news among your visitors. We will ask you to leave the badge on for another week or two, then you can remove it.
Is this the end of COLOURlovers?
It's unlikely, although at this point COLOURlovers is completely lacking a staff that would maintain the site. While Darius has mentioned making all the features for sponsors open to any member as a possible solution, there hasn't been any progress in the matter.
