One of our users started an interesting project for real estate industry under http://DesignsThatSell.biz. I want to see where this will take him, but looks like he is up for a good start and the idea has legs. We had a long argument about the colour scheme for his For Sale By Owner Yard Signs (http://zetaprints.com/FSBO-Yard-Signs). He tried many combinations and now the colour scheme is completely messed up. I wonder what would be a good colour choice for a yard sign that: - stands out in an urban landscape - does not copy already popular brands (cent21, remax, etc.) On the other hand, there is no such a thing as a universal landscape. The brick walls of Boston buildings look completely different from green lush suburbia in CA. ![]() ![]() ![]() PureForm PureForm wrote: 4 Jan, 2008
The red and yellow are really off putting ... I think some blues and greens would work well for that. When I was in real estate my signs had a palette like this: ![]() Though, I'm not sure if these colors are used by anyone in the residential field. You could use the green and blue for accent colors and the white and black for text / borders. ![]() ![]() ![]() manekinek… manekineko wrote: 5 Jan, 2008
I'd agree w/ PureForm on this one, his palette looks right. And boy that red and yellow business has got to go ![]() ![]() ![]() zetaprint… zetaprints wrote: 5 Jan, 2008
Thanx PureForm. Something along these lines should work. Manekineko, the red and yellow was my idea, which in hind sight was stupid. The designer told me so, but I insisted :-) Actually, we were driving past a few signs here and just paid a bit more attention to colours. ReMax red-white-black-blue (http://zetaprints.com/ReMax-Yard-Signs/) and the most visible, but they look so last century. ![]() Century21 black/yellow Personally, I like red-yellow-black of L.J.Hooker ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() manekinek… manekineko wrote: 5 Jan, 2008

I'm the designer with "DesignsThatSell.biz" and I'm making printing templates for all kinds of purposes in the real estate market. From "FOR SALE" yard signs and "OPEN HOME" arrows to magazine ads, business cards, flyers etc. For Sale By Owner Template Catalog The idea is to have free online catalogs with a bunch of designs where people can log in, change all the text in the template to their own needs and download a printable PDF file. But that's just it, they are only able to change the text and upload their images of the property or their own photo, they can't change the colors in the template. Now, if they just want a familiar brand like ReMax or Century21 the palette is static. ReMax Template Catalog Century21 Template Catalog But, if they are independent real-estate agents or the owners of the property themselves, than I have to give them lots to choose from. Therefore I decided to make a few different palettes for each FSBO template so that everyone can find their own "look". That's where you guys come in. I used some palettes that I found here and I made a couple of my own. I hope I came up with a spectrum that is modern enough and that people will like. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What do you think? ![]() ![]() ![]() manekinek… manekineko wrote: 8 Jan, 2008
Honestly I'd make sure that each major color group is represented with 1 or 2 palettes - reds, blues, yellows, oranges, etc. Then give them a bold version and a muted version of each. I say this because people are funny and will get an itch for combos that are represented in their own real estate markets - in my town the biggest companies of this sort use either Gold and Green or Red and White and it's bound to vary by region anyway just a thought :) ![]() ![]() |
