I am honestly the worst at matching web colors. I can find individuals, but never ones that match and whatnot.

I have a web layout that I am having to design and I have picked a color that I really, really like as a link (#1A84DC). Now I just need a yellow and a light, light blue for HTML notices. The ones I have picked are:

Yellow: FFF8DB
Blue: EBF7FF

They don't look good, though and I honestly don't know what to do. I need more colors to go with my theme as well (such as a border and text color for each of those colors above.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Machines, I would like to help, but it is unclear to me how the three colors you referenced will be used on your site.

Are you looking for colors for links, page backgrounds, headers/labels or something else? Also what do you mean by HTML notices?

Thanks for the reply!

The blue and yellow will be used for a background for a page element. Essentially a DIV with a background of that color to display information. Nothing too obtrusive, but as an example:

I am going for an overall clean feel for my website which is why I am stressing so much over this!

Anyhow, I need an entire color palette and I only have the link color (#1A84DC) that I like for a white background! Is there any way you can help me out with my palette?

Hi there,

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you - had to go to work.

Have you tried the other palette tools available on ColourLovers? With Copaso, yo u can get the complementary color. I input your blue - and the tetrad (4 colors) returned a nice palette with a green, purple and orange. I added a light gray and named it Web I as an example. This is the link to the tool http://www.colourlovers.com/copaso/ColorPaletteSoftware

I had picked similar colors useing the basic palette creator - Web II

You could use your favorite blue as your link color - use a lighter or darker variation of that blue for visited and underline for hover to keep it simple. The other colors in your palette can be for accent used sparingly or as a color code if your site had only two or three sections.

Another options is to reserve one of the colors for buttons and one for page titles and headings.

If you don't mind me asking, what type of site are you developing? A corporate site, a personal site?

Below are some links to sites listing sites that have light or white backgrounds. I think that some pale grays would work better than pale blues or yellows. The light gray will be less of a distraction from your other colors.
