I’m looking for a background colour that will not clash with the orange I’m using on my website. My friend who is working on the site for me thinks green is a good idea, but its terrible! Have a look at your own peril: http://jerseyosteopath.com/index4.htm I’m trying to work out what to use instead, can you offer any advice? (I’m using the orange because it matches some leaflets I’ve already had printed, and they do look good, honest!)

How about a dark expresso brown?

Hi! This is your orange.

I would definitely go with neutral colours (that green is not working for you). I think something either very light or very dark will help make your orange stand out.

Here's what they all look like with the orange:

i'm not that great with oranges (the color), but my friend ellie is. here are some of her schemes that might be useful. :)

My mother's favorite colors were orange and yellow together, real peppy and upbeat :-)

Hi Jerrias,

I have seen the website and i dont think the problem is in the green.. but in the wrong or right colour of green that will match it.. or not.

This green you have is fighting for attention with the orange..
My suggestion is..use a medio/dark olive colour as background and the orange just looks fine.

Another thing I saw ..
The colours of the buttons above clash with the orange, to my opinon. Too yellowish in the middle. Maybe you should "mute" that colour a little.. more white..as a suggestion..

Good luck

I just looked too, I think it's ok if only you replace the green strip with a nice inviting graphic of some sort, silhouettes stretching? Smiles? And maybe an artier background color instead of white.....tan, light olive, nothing dramatic. It's really ok otherwise I think. :-)

Being me, I would try a light blue with the orange, since they are opposites on the color wheel. Dancingintherain suggested a couple greys, and those would work great too.
Mangowasabi and Northshoreshells have great points also. Orange can be hard to pair sometimes, and they have great advice.

Wow. great stuff Mango. This site is pretty sweet! I don't really have a lot of color-sense, but redecorating my office is going to get pretty cool checking out feedback like this. Thanks!

Jerriais

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will tone down the background and try out some browns and blue-grey colours. There's so much to learn about colour! And this is a great site.
Thanks again!

My sincerest apologies for not posting this in the proper place but the "bugs" thread is not letting me post.

For some reason a whole heap of stuff doesn't seem to be working properly. Noone's palettes/patterns are showing up on their profiles, just the bio and recent comments, I can't edit anything and none of the drop down menus are working.

Is this happening to anyone else or is it just me?

I just love this. The peachy colours look so calming and serene and then there's the grey and the turquoise which gives off a 50's feel (which I just love on its own). It's a perfect colour palette for this summer.
