I am an art student. Because color is a huge part of my process, I am planning on making large inkjet prints of some of my palettes to show for my major studio's midterm critique.

Ideally I will have somewhere between four and ten palettes. They should go together well but not be too similar, and the more recent they are, the better. I am having trouble deciding on a group of palettes to use!

My question for the community: anyone want to help me make the selection?

liddle_r

Why don't you post some groups that you think would work well and then we can critique?

GreenMyEyes

I really like the groups you've highlighted on your profile page. I think my personal favorite, the Seven Deadly Sins, would make a wonderful page.

I like what GreenMyEyes had to say... any of these sets would be good... but if you want to choose newer palettes.... create a new theme, say 7 Wonders of the World; off the top of my head.... and run through your palettes to see what palette fits each name in your theme. That way you could choose a series of colours that may be similar in tone, but you have room to choose all different colours on all parts of the colour wheel.

a few favourites from your profile page and your newer ones, ...lovely glassy palettes & nice widths :) and best wishes.

Hmmm, thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm a little hesitant to use any of my existing series palettes, just because they are a little too old to show as current work, so making a new set would be preferable. Here are a few I've been looking at:
Stupid_For_You
Indian_Summer
Done_Crying
Protect_Me
Freefall
Give_Me_Cavities
Vents
So, perhaps try finding palettes that would go well with any/some of these?

Trueflight

I think Done Crying and Give Me Cavities go pretty well together, and I'd like to incorporate Vents in there somewhere... maybe with Protect Me. Freefall might be a little too saturated to work with any of the others, but if you can find palettes to accompany it I'd love to see them.

Venus

Pluto
your series are great!

Companionship
I made this one to accompany Vents, though I'm not sure it works for that purpose.

Thanks! :)

I love all of these, TF, but my favorite is Indian Summer. I think there are several that would well with this:

Indian_Summer

No_Longer

Eventually

Oooh, great thoughts there... I especially like Indian Summer with No Longer, I think. I'll definitely be printing that as a pair (which brings me up to six palettes, in three groups of two).

Trueflight

So, thus far here are the three groupings I've printed:
Done_Crying
and
Give_Me_Cavities

Vents
and
Companionship

Indian_Summer
and
No_Longer

I'd like to do at least one more set, preferably two. What am I missing?

Trueflight

What do you think about
Freefall
and
Folk_Festival
together?

I'm undecided but doubtful.

Trueflight

No_Boundary
and
Protect_Me
???

EDIT: That's not quite right either...

Trueflight

Playground
AND
Distract_Me

EDIT: Ehhh...

Trueflight

Look_Again
AND
Whispers_Of_Summer

EDIT: This one might work.

Trueflight

Ch-Ch-Changes
AND
Dynamite_Walls

...might be a little too different from all the others.

Trueflight

Lovers
AND
Playground

Not sure about this combo, really.
