Challenging Color for Advocacy Group's Palate - Anyone?

We're a pedestrian advocacy nonprofit in the process of redesigning our website completely. But we are struggling to develop a color palate for the new website that goes well with our logo color (BRG: 51-49-146, Hex: #333192). It's kind of purple, kind of blue. Not sure. As a "safety" organization, we're considering using orange somewhere -- as in "safety cone orange, kind of like Clemson University's site. Maybe orange could be in our menu bar or as header text, or whatever.

So, could any of you color lovers suggest a color palate that works with our logo color? Our new website will very likely have a white background, but we need the colors to be strong and serious without being boring. Any takers?

Groutboy,

Thanks so much! Question: What do the different color widths suggest? I'm no graphic artist and am wondering why some colors are wider than others.

Just mere suggestions on what percentage of the color would be used on the site. For instance, the second palette would use much more of your signature blue color.

@rotten--Thanks, yours is excellent as well, especially when translated into the stripe pattern. The second one is my favorite too.

I decided to work a little "green" into the palette since walking is good for the environment.

walk this way

and here is one that is a bit more conservative:

watch for me
