I predict and you can quote me on this...
There will be a few colors promoted as the major colors of the year by industry experts. Designers at major firms will pay attention to this and incorporate these colors into their work. Other freelance designers and those at smaller firms who can't afford the ridiculously expensive color reports from the experts will use colors that feel right to them and their clients. Some of the next great companies, being started in garages and dorm rooms will pay even less attention to trends and will name and brand their companies with cringingly bad concepts. Color forecasted trends be damned, you'll end up using these services on a daily basis to find things online and some of these bad design concepts will be copied and will influence other companies in their space. I try not to use my crystal ball for things too far in advance... but I'll go ahead and say the same will be true for 2010. ;) ![]() ![]() ![]() Just Perf… Just Perfect Color wrote: 6 Jul, 2008

I predict and you can quote me on this... Too true. How many people actually used Pantone's color of the year? I think they dumped the chips in a hat and assigned someone in the PR department to write about PMS number whatever. Develop your own color skills. Sleep with a color wheel. Don't just splash it around. Trends are necessary for mass produced things. Color and the creativity that goes with it are for individuals. ![]() ![]() ![]() Just Perf… Just Perfect Color wrote: 6 Jul, 2008

i'm the kind of person who bucks trends - no matter what they are. when something becomes popular its usually driven into the ground by all the footsteps of the people clambering to get it, then its not fun anymore. too much of a good thing is too much and that's what usually happens with trends. ![]() ![]() ![]() wingedvic… wingedvictory wrote: 7 Jul, 2008
As mush as I love trends and whats popular, as many of you have said, I always stick to what feels right and what looks the best. I have no idea what the new colour trends will be (and this is what? over 6 months away?), but I know that black and white will always be in and the the cycle of colours will continue. ![]() ![]() fabglitz fabglitz wrote: 7 Jul, 2008

I'm working in the textile industry and color trends for SS09-FW09 has already presented since last year (2007). Usually they will travel around the world to forecast what's will be in. It start from small details and they will buy the samples and presented to whole world; including new techniques; what kind of applique, embroidery, etc. Or they will combine the colors according what's happening in the world nowadays.
For the example; for SS09 there will be a lot of matching Neon colors with Dark colors. And it represents the life of Cyberspace nowadays (Facebook, anyone?) Usually, I use lenzing color trends (http://www.lenzing.com/fibers/en/trends/5295.jsp) ![]() ![]() |
