I'm building a website for a friend who sells Japanese koicarp. Now i'm looking for a nice colorcombinations with following discription:

high class, refreshing, japan, trust, business, feel good,..

Any advice?

I don't know, something like a soft lilly pad green background? Pond blue? I assume illustrations/photos will be vibrant enough you will not need much more color? Do send me the web address when the site is finished! I was looking for another source of such fish for a client recently.

Try a stock photo search for KOI or KOI ponds? I think if you stick close to the colors of nature you will do fine.

My gut says go with greens/blues- they'll look nice in contrast with the vegetation of the pond and the orange and other colors in the fish.

here's my take:


red: from their flag
orangish-gold: warmth & quality
creams/browns:organic/natural
kio carp come in these colors
but no whites or blacks - too blunt/bold - chemical cleaned & untrusting
