I've been having a lot of fun submitting designs to the RYZ Shoe Contest. At the moment there are over 1500 designs submitted! Some of them are from us COLOURlovers; some are from the RYZ regular contest submitters. I'd love to see what other CLers are doing, but I don't think I can look at 1500+ entries without going into RYZ overload -- and there's no way of telling who's who.

So I thought if maybe those of us who've been entering would post our RYZ user names here, we'd have a chance to see what other CLers are doing.

Yes, good luck, everybody! I'm not sure how they're going to judge this many entries -- as I write this, there are 1578 entries, and the contest still has several hours to go!

BTW, it bothers me terrifically to check off that box that says "This is an original design owned solely by myself." when submitting one of the patterns listed under -RYZ Contest-. Does it bother anyone else? I have to assume it's OK with Darius & Crew.

It bothers me too! I tried not clicking it but you can't submit it without clicking it! I'm sure they're cool with it

Yeah I was a bit worried about that one too, as the patterns are not originally ours (unless you do a custom one). But like Miaka said, you can't submit without clicking it so.... yeah. :p There's alot of CL people on the first two pages, great job everyone!!! Hey, the voting is starting, and I understand a bit more:

-- I never could figure out whether you could submit unlimited entries (as it says somewhere) or only three (as it says somewhere else). Now I see that you could submit unlimited, the judges somehow looked at all of them, and pickled their top 18. Now -- I think -- we can choose nine more from all the rest of the entries, but now I think we are limited to three submissions per contestant. Quote: "For those who have entered more than 3 designs, we'll We have give you through the weekend to self-select your favorite three". So get cracking, or "after that we will go through and remove designs for you".

-- I can't yet figure out the voting, though. I assume we only have one vote, but at this point are we only voting to select the next nine? And then will we have the chance to vote once for the final 27? Or is this it? If anybody figures out more, could you please post it here?

If one of your designs is chosen as a finalist, does that mean you can only choose two more, or do you still get three, plus the one they picked?

I haven't picked my final three yet, too hard to decide!

Bunigrl, I think my faves of yours are Falling Softly, Moonlight through the Curtains, and either Minty Goodness or Grape Fizz for the last. :)

Miaka, my fave out of your 3 is definitely the Modern Hotel one! Feels like summer by the pool for some reason. :)

And GreenMyEyes, thanks for the sweet comment! :) I think that design may have been too.... girly? for the judges, I'm not sure :P. But I'm rooting for my other one, hehe! Out of yours, it's really hard to decide... But I think the best bet was definitely your Moon is Melting. :D

As for voting, I too am still a bit confused on that! I really wish they had a better FAQ or something.

Just from my own experience, I think you can vote on as many designs as you want, but you can only vote on each design once per day. And I've been able to vote without logging in; so that's good for getting friends and family members to vote.

Yes, here's a response to my question on the RYZ forums:

You can rate each shoe with stars from 1-5 and you can do that once every 24 hours. Every shoe in the voting section is under the vote (though after this weekend some will be cut due to the maximum of 3 designs in the finals). In the end it's about the average vote, the one with the highest average wins. The shoes chosen by the panelists are just ones they themselves thought to be the best and are highlighted on the first two(?) pages.
