The new camera I bought last month has a setting on it specifically for photographing fireworks. Yesterday, of course was the ideal night to test it. The circumstances produced some interesting results - first, I was on a boat, bobbing in Lake Erie, so the motion of the boat is evident in the photos. And second, I didn't want to watch the show through my camera's viewfinder, so I just had the camera resting on my chest aimed at the sky. I also had to experiment to find the proper timing to release the shutter. Check out the results here. It's not quite camera tossing...
