Yes. I had a data entry job (which sucked anyway) where I was stuck up in a little gray office with no window to the outside. I was so depressed. It made the job even worse. I switched to working in cosmetics, which is much more colorful :D

This is a little pricey but an excellent book. Perhaps your library will have it. Frank Mahnke heads the International Association of Color Consultants. It is the only organization to accredit color consultants although their curricula is now embedded in that of places like UC Berkeley.

Color, Environment & Human Response

If you do a library or Amazon search you will find other titles specific to human response and color therapy, etc. The part of the firm I spun off the end of the year specializes in research as to the psychology and sociology of color and aesthetics, etc. It has been slow but institutions like hospitals, especially those for children for some reason, are catching on that kids respond and heal faster in colorful environments. Of course maternity suites have been made more cozy and home like. Businesses are catching on too.

Sorry to say it, but those who comment on someone's lack of a life don't have much to offer themselves!

Hopefully your library will have or can get some of these:

Color Therapy Books

Not to sound mercenary but one of the benefits of learning color from aspects like psychology, sociology and other human factors is a billing rate of $325-350/hour vs what these days for graphic and web design? And how many practicing both professions? For those younger than me that LOVE color and can imagine a career around it I would definitely look into:

These are wonderful links! And great advice for anyone who is interested. Thank you. I did psych in university but I ended up in web and graphic design. I've always had an interest in the effect of colour on people/society/culture and the whole advent of consciously using colour as therapy or in therapy. I'm really dissatisfied with the website work because I like colour and design more than code and I've been thinking of a career shift, so I'll definitely look into this. Thanks again! (:

this is a breathing exercise i do with my patients for stress management:
1.Inhale deep and slow while thinking of a colour that calms/uplifts you at the moment, it doesn't have to be your fave one - just whatever feels good at the moment.

2.Exhale it out in a colour that you dislike the most at the moment.

Don't over think it. Repeat. Change the colours if you want to.

:) Ash 16_26 should definitely repeat 1000x

I think I've been doing that without really thinking about it. It does feel good, too.

i went to the art institute of dallas & international of minnesota for interactive media & web design...
color theory & psychology (the class had a focus on colors/design) were required courses & they suggest taking the two the same semester....

so glad i did... i already thought i had a pretty good handle on things, but these classes gave me real life experience =) props to AI of Dallas
