I wouldn't recommend disabling right clicking because it just causes headaches and there are ways around most scripts. I use my right click menu for navigating sometimes and it's how I access several extensions that have nothing to do with saving images. If I run into a roadblock, I just fire up the Firefox "Right to Click" extension and move on.

I'm more baffled by the fact that Creative Commons licensing was implemented, and yet the API completely ignores the "not for commercial use" option. I don't want to set all of my patterns to "All Rights Reserved" because I want people to use them. I don't want people to be charged for them by anyone, and that includes the site itself.

Gasp365

@ Quijotesca - Yes this has been part of the topic. Please read the backlog of this thread to understand why we've moved on to come to this point in the conversation.
Otherwise we keep going in circles.

@Gasp365 - I'm pretty sure no one else is saying blocking right clicking is a bad idea, and that was my main point. I'm just seeing people saying it's a good idea.

OrigamiMei

Couldn't a block be applied to the site that specifically prevents right-clicking on photos rather than all content? Please forgive my ignorance. I don't know a lot about coding and scripts and such.

Gasp365

@ Quijotesca - Oh I should have clarified that I was referring to a licensing and copyright discussion we had and how we got to this point in the conversation.

GabsGiggles

Well.. I guess we can't continue fighting against external thieves when inside the community is ''allowed'' to do it. Double standard...

OrigamiMei

Never give up on what you believe is right, Gabs.

GabsGiggles

I don't ''believe'' this is right. THIS IS right. Norms are norm, laws are laws. No ''appreciations'' can change anything,,, But it would be hypocritical to speak on behalf of CL when people do the exact same thing :/
This is sad.

They all link back to the original CL pattern, don't they?

I just now am getting the backstory about this issue! It is doing my heart some good to know someone is working on this issue. Dear Matt Wallington, please and thank yous to you for keeping up the work on this because it means a lot to me. I have been feeling so down about this! I'm such a loyal CL user! Knowing that you're going to take care of it helps reassure me. Updating my profile images is part of what I love to do here. I was really beginning to regret attempting to change it and really felt bad when I couldn't change it back to my old image, it's good to know it's been an issue that, I, alone, am not going through. Please keep us up to date.

Best wishes!

hey there! i'm having issues with my profile picture (which is why i currently don't have one anymore...... :-/) and i have a feeling it links back to the server move. every time i try to upload a new profile picture and click the button, i'm redirected to a page that says "nothing to see here!" and my profile picture doesn't change at all. i deleted my old profile picture in the settings menu, thinking that might clear up the issue, but now i can't add my old profile picture or replace it with a new one! any advice / tips / assistance is much appreciated :)

edit: just realized this has already been semi-discussed so sorry for the redundancy! also thank you to matt and chris for all of the hard work you're doing to get the site back to normal. :)

I was able to replicate this issue and have some ideas on what could be causing the issue. I will try to address those tonight.

I'm having the same issue! I'm stuck as a grey face. :'(

The issue with the "Open" button in Photocopa is back. I can't access saved palettes again.
It worked for a while after I'd first noticed and addressed this problem, but now the button is back to being unresponsive.
