While I'm not a fan of Mac laptops, they truly were innovative and the epitome of creativity. What a very talented man. RIP, Steve - you were an inspiration to many.

So sad

I am actually going to miss him and it is always a bit jarring to see someone your own age dying so young. I've had no reason to stay in touch with Jobs since I left Silicon Valley. A subsidiary of a company I worked for was the first to suit Apple for the way it treated its dealers at the inspiration of him. I watched him tear a lowly receptionist into tiny shreds in the Apple lobby filled with people and sort of shook by head.

I have managed to make it through life personally without touching a fruit machine unless my staff insisted they had to have one, two or a third for parts. I always felt I was being taken hostage to proprietary peripherals and parts to fix the things. And yes people, they do break.

However, Jobs probably did more in terms of forcing nice industrial design considerations than anyone else I can think of and he deserves credit for that. Before giving him sainthood I hope we can look honestly at how much intellectual property not his, he stuck his name on as the inventor. And he hardly set himself to be viewed as any sort of philanthropist.

No reason to nit pick though. There is no doubt he made a tremendous contribution to technology as we know and use it. I am not sure we ever would have gotten on with concepts of user friendly interfaces without him adapting technology whether his or not.

And one can only imagine the suffering in the latter years. My heart goes out to his family and friends for having seen him through that.

So sad, at least he's in good place now ang he may be rest in peace.
