Obviously, there are many elements to art. Would you consider color your artistic strong point? ...kinda curious ![]() ![]() ![]() bunigrl33 bunigrl33 wrote: 2 Months Ago
I'm not a professional artist but, in the group of friends that I "bead" with, I'm the one they come to for color advice. ![]() ![]() ![]() initialpa… initialpassion wrote: 2 Months Ago
I depend on colour greatly & often in graphic design colour can make or break the design.
I would like to think colour is my strong point but I dunno... ![]() ![]() Hikariri Hikariri wrote: 2 Months Ago
Color is DEFINITELY NOT my strong point, that's why I'm here. I'd like to learn about the use of colors, though. ![]() ![]() ![]() manekinek… manekineko wrote: 2 Months Ago

Hikariri: I think I learned a lot from this place! Its fun learning to :P I am not sure how well I am at drawing but I feel my coloring covers my weak spots. ![]() ![]() ![]() lizcrimso… lizcrimson wrote: 2 Months Ago
colour has always been my strong point. i am a painter because of that, and i like oils because i can blend colours so much easier than with acrylics. i have also been designated "queen of paint" in my house. i will often just paint a room on the spur of the moment - usually some strange colour that seems to work well. my husband never questions it. he always seems to like it when i'm finished. my neighbors have come to me asking me to tell them what colour to paint their walls. i think i should go into interior design when i retire. :P whatever i do, colour comes first. ![]() ![]() ![]() groutboy groutboy wrote: 2 Months Ago

I wouldn't say it's my strongest point, but being here has definitely helped refine it. ![]() ![]() ![]() lizcrimso… lizcrimson wrote: 2 Months Ago
i once was hired as a paint colour mixer/designer for a company that did hand painted needlepoint canvases. i had the ability to perfectly match the paint colours to the yarns. i also designed some of the needlepoint kits. it was actually one of my favourite jobs ever. too bad the company went out of business. not enough call for hand painted needlepoint kits. :( ![]() ![]() ![]() GreenMyEy… GreenMyEyes wrote: 2 Months Ago
I am so madly in love with color that it strongly affects my life and my art. But I don't know whether it's my strong point or not. When someone likes a digital work of mine, I don't know if it's the colors that cause the attraction, or the shapes, or the overall design, or what. And many people can't articulate what they like and don't like (the old "I don't know anything about art but I know what I like"). That's why feedback from other COLOURlovers helps me considerably. ![]() ![]() ![]() koala988 koala988 wrote: 2 Months Ago
For me, colour is the only reason I paint. Usually I don't care about the form or what I'm painting, I just want to make colours and put them together. Which is why this site is an absolute dream. ![]() ![]() ![]() eighthmus… eighthmuse wrote: 2 Months Ago
I'm not sure if I consider myself an artist, because I've always struggled with traditional art (about the only thing I can sketch is shadows). However, I like watercolours because of the unexpected silvery purple I might get while painting this huge block of green, blue, and purple. It's not exactly a strong point, it's just the thing that's the most fun for me.
I took a watercolouring class once. Our teacher was very strict about allowing us only red, yellow, and blue paint pan things to start with. So if I wanted green, I had to mix it. We did a lot of still lifes, and I remember agonizing over making a good coppery yellow when painting a leaf. ^^ ![]() ![]() ![]() lightning… lightningmccarl wrote: 2 Months Ago
I dont really consider myself an artist at all. :D I do like to paint once in a while, but nothing comes out like I would hope it would. I could say colour-loving is one of my strong points as many people say that it is, but I'm better at sketching and cartooning. (:
I do like sketching in charcoal :D ![]() ![]() ![]() xLIMEtree xLIMEtree wrote: 2 Months Ago
i'm a graphic designer & illustrator, and so my subject matter has to be the most obvious focal point for my work, but color scheme is definitely the second most important thing, i think. i have a lot of trouble conceptualizing a design if i haven't first laid out a color scheme for it. there are times i've scrapped entire projects because a color scheme doesn't strike me... but in my finished product, my color schemes are definitely what people compliment me on most often. ![]() ![]() ![]() zapmama zapmama wrote: 2 Months Ago
I think color is my strong point. Something I've definitely nurtured over the course of my career. Its something I study on a daily basis. I am hyper aware of color around me and how it influences my actions and moods. Its a subtle, but at the same time very powerful aspect of my life.

I'd like to think so!
When I used to take art classes, I used to be one of the best in class with color (etc..). However, it may just be that color is what i'm most comfortable with. ![]() ![]() ![]() nighthawk… nighthawk327 wrote: 2 Months Ago
I'm an artist, but I think energy/movement and overall shapes or mood are usually the strongest points in my work. They only teach you so much in school (at least in mine), practice is what really makes you better. Like others, I'm here to learn more about color, and already I have so many more color ideas for my work because of sites like this. :) Color is not my strongest point, but luckily, it's not my worst either... I was always aware of colors but not necessarily how to blend them in the best way (beyond the basics, anyway...), how to make things pop without overuse of bold or primary colors. Definitely learning fast though!
Oh yeah, and Miaka is DAMN good with color.... I wouldn't doubt you were the best in the class! ![]() ![]() ![]() Ruth Tarr… Ruth Tarragano wrote: 2 Months Ago

Color? I think i'm quite good with color when it comes to art--not to say i dont make my own share of experiments that become mistakes, but i use color well, and i use lots of it, without making a work of art too overwhelmingly colorful. Noting in my art, though, is ever just one single color. Color is what gives life to my art! ![]() ![]() ![]() katemess katemess wrote: 2 Months Ago
When it comes to art, me strong point would most likely be shapes, lines, and transformation. I'm great at sketching things, but I would gasp if you told me to fill my sketches with color. That's why I use this site.
Then again, i'm not an artist =P I enjoy making graphics, poster art, and sketching now and then. but I have tons to learn. ![]() ![]() |
