Oh no. Is this going to turn into a "this site was better before it was popular" discussion? :( I really hope not.

hey_hey_hello

That's not really the site's problem though... People leaving is because people make the decision to do so. I hardly think that it has anything to do with CL as a social forum, cause the fact of the matter is that it's one of the best forums out there. I think it has to do with peoples' lives and priorities changing. Of course that's just my personal thoughts on the matter.

And all sites change and develop with time. I lost interest in this place for two, almost three years, because it was just too small. But it had potential to grow so I didn't close my account because I did still love it. And I'm not quite sure why you feel like you can't be yourself anymore... If there's any place online where you can be exactly who you are it's CL... And I think people here are super creative and that the number of really creative people has only increased. It's a good thing!

But yeah, sure, I can miss some of the people I talked to back in the early days. Can't say I felt like people connected to each other as a group though...

Hope not! I wasn't even here before it was popular.

When YCC was around, I do feel like we pulled together more as a group than we do right now. She would put together group projects (i.e. the blanket project for Vincent when I have birth to him and the project for Molly's baby, Serafina.) but with her gone, the place doesn't quite feel the same. She must come back soon!

I don't even know who that is... :P
But of course it doesn't feel the same. It doesn't feel the same on the job when one of your colleagues quit either. But change doesn't have to be a bad thing. That's all I'm trying to say. If you want a closer knit group of people then you gotta be the one to make it happen yourself. Don't wait around for someone else to make the first move 'cause it might not happen. Know what I mean?

Agreed. Notice how the group IFRC doesn't have as much participation as when she was here? Dear WordofMouse is doing her very best to keep it going but it's just not the same as it was when YCC ran it. She had leadership qualities and people flocked to her projects like bees and butterflies to flowers.

YCC2106 ...she's a top banana (literally!) here at CL :P

SEE!!! I keep telling Molly we need to do a blog post every once in a while with a featured colourlover of the week. YCC NEEDS to be one of the first we do because I'm just shocked you've never heard of the AWESOMENESS that is The Banana.

OrigamiMei

Yes I noticed that . -_- And it makes me sad because I know how much work she put into that group. Not only is she hardworking, she's super encouraging. She has kind things to say about every creation!

It's really really sad to me how the quality of a place can bend or break with the participation of one single individual... But maybe that's because I'm not really into the whole "let's socialize as a group" thing. I'd imagine it'd be pretty stressful to have a lot of people depending on you like that as well. Considering how CL is supposed to be a fun place for creativity outside of real life routine without any must do's. But what do I know. I could be wrong. :)

OrigamiMei

I'm super anti-social so the group socializing thing is usually something I avoid but here at CL, the welcome atmosphere makes it a lot easier for me. And if you ever meet Anna, you'll understand! She has a vibe that you can feel from thousands of miles away. *gets a dreamy look in her eyes*
But in "real life", you won't find me leaving the apartment much. xD

Yes! I've heard her voice stress a few times. She was always thankful when we took over the workload for her to help her out.

And Mei, do you know if she ever saw her "get well" quilt we made her?

OrigamiMei

Not that I know of. -_- I'm sincerely concerned about her. She hasn't been on for a month. A MONTH. O_O Can you believe it? *pouts*

hey_hey_hello

I'm the exact opposite XD Online I just want to do my thing without feeling that I have to post something in this or that group. And I know that if I start joining groups I'm gonna get the feeling that have to contribute whether I want to or not. There are too many musts in my daily life to put up with that in here as well... With that not said that I don't enjoy talking to people or getting to know people online. I just really lack a group-think. On- and offline.

I had to quit the Colour Lover of the Day group because I always felt obligated every day to create something but I just didn't have time and then I felt bad that I created something for someone one day and not for another the next day. So I made it easier on myself and quit. >_< Oh well. I still make people gifts when I have the time.

*Pouts with you* Come join the pity party people!

hey_hey_hello

Now that is something I really do miss from ol' school CL. People made gifts for each other all the time. :')

...I feel like the discussion is getting way off the actual thread topic here...

LOL maybe we should stop or move the discussion somewhere else!!! I was just thinking the same thing.

Here is a group I just created if you want to continue the conversation.

This thread is now just for how you found CL!!! :-) LOL
