How come lately I've been getting a LOT of people who create a CL account, love one of my palettes or patterns, and then disappear off the face of the planet and never return to CL again? They might have 1-3 loves, no creations, and then just keep their account up, never bothering to upload a picture or write anything in their info.
I am SO CURIOUS how they found CL. If you're listening Darius, could you sometime in the future post some web statistics of the most common places that refer people to CL other than the obvious like google and direct traffic? Thanks so much for listening! I'm guessing places like pinterest, polyvore, flickr, and facebook would be pretty high on the list.

I found CL, when searching Google for stained glass. One of my art medium's is mosaic,
And use a lot of stained sheet glass and CL, came up in the search. It may be just a case
Of flakey people? Or their attention span is one of a 10 month old cocker spaniel on ritalin.

Hi Sundancer,
I felt the need to respond to your rant. First, while I've set up my account, I haven't been active lately. While I enjoyed this site immensely, I've also had major life changes going on that required my time and attention. When I'm online, I spend me time elsewhere, right now.
I have a bunch of color palettes that I want to create, and I will when I feel like it, on my own time.
Perhaps there are others that will come back when they feel like it. Perhaps they have issues going on. Maybe other interests are more of a priority for them right now. Or, maybe they've simply changed their mind about participating in this forum.
My question for you, is with all due respect, why are you taking these people to heart?

Hmmm. Good question, Terr. The truth is: I don't know why actually. It's just been happening a whole lot. Tons of people with just ONE love. I'll be the only love they clicked on the whole website. It's almost like a fake person or something. I want to know why they created an account. Did they stumble across my pattern and like it SO MUCH they created an account just to love it once and then they were on their merry way or its that WAY too prideful and selfish to think that someone loved my pattern or palette enough to create an account just to love it? It doesn't really seem plausible so I'm wondering the story behind it. I wish people left a little note on their info about why they left. I want to get to know people and they are a complete mystery if they don't tell us anything on their info. I like to visit people's pages now and then and if it says, "SO and so hasn't logged on in a month," I worry about them and if they are okay... especially if it's a colourlover who usually comes on at least once a day.

Well first, thanks for not ripping my head off, lol.
Second, here's a perspective for you: You should feel tickled and honored that someone might create an account just to show you some love! Maybe your works
create so much emotion in them, they just have to let you know right there an then.
On that note, maybe they like what they see so much, they are intimidated and they feel that they could NEVER create work like yours or like others. Then, they go away.
Or, it could be about a million and one reasons. Since this is an artistic forum, no one is going to share intimate details about their lives, you know? It's not that type of forum.
Now, if you want to get to know people, simply patiently and politely send them a message telling them so. If you notice that they've been gone for a while, send them a message and encourage them to come back and create something. Share a personal contact email or Twitter, or whatever while you're at it. Encourage them if they are scared about creating something. Whatever you do, don't get angry or hurt!
Why would someone want to tick you off or hurt you when they don't know you?

It beats being angry over strangers on forum, right?

But to answer the actual topic of discussion: I've been here for five years. I cannot for the life of me remember how or where I found CL... I love how much it's developed though! Compared to what it is today this place was a wasteland back then.

YES!!! *Sob* Obviously, I joined later rblue85, and I haven't been with you since the very beginning but a lot of people I was friends with in the beginning who were such an asset to CL have left like YCC2106, zsorzsi, oppouline.... the list goes on and on.
