I didn't think anyone would remember magneto as a car starter, just a comic book guy.

A device to generate spark and direct it to the spark plugs. It is similar to a Battery ignition except rather than getting its voltage from the battery, it creates it internally by using magnets and a rotor. It is an electricity generator coupled with a distributor delivering spark to the plugs at the appropriate time to explode the gas and air mixture in the combustion chamber.
