Description
RC45
This is part of the Daily Random Colour Challenge.
Wednesday 8th September 2010, the colour is :
Waku Waku HEX: #EBC49A RGB: 235/196/154

This colour was randomly picked from the above image, it comes from the VINTAGE COMIC inspiration word group page.
NB: Using IF words & images like the above are optional but encouraged. If you do, please also tag your creations with IF17. (or only IF17 if not using the RC colour)
The above image comes from this Japanese comic strip:
Sabimikuchan, the girl, is waiting for the Mochi to cook. I'm not sure if it's her or the mochi going "waku waku".. could mean the sound of cooking or that she's waiting with a... an anticipating feeling (?)
Then the Mochi goes: "FUKU" (rising sound) - PUTCHIYA- (slimy pop sound)
Does anyone know who/what's going WAKU WAKU?

I'm not a managphile for those 'typical manga' pics with big square eyes with white dots inside, I do admire there meticulous work but I prefer the more rough style like they often have in newspaper strips or those like Miyazaki.
There are many great illustrators in Japan.. like everywhere in fact.
FIY - there's a Miyazaki group challenge - where 4 Miyazaki images are proposed each week to use as inspiration

The yonkoma above is actually a fanwork based on the Vocaloid characters.
...I actually don't know much about Vocaloid, but I am most definitely a mangaphile. :) And I love mochi - (chew carefully! Anna isn't kidding - there are at usually about 2 dozen mochi-related deaths every year!)

Wow! so much information! Did you know this manga? You know Mochi?
I love Mochi - even through some choke to death on it! =P
about colours... we've never done colours close to black or white... Just saying it like that - cause anyway the choice of RC colours are entirely random of course! =P

The 'Waku waku' sound is her eager anticipation as the mochi (essentially a specialized snack food made of incredibly fine and dense rice paste) is toasting. As mochi cooks, a big bubble rises on the top, which eventually collapses (like the world's densest and most doomed souffle!)
...The anticipation of the bubble forming (and wondering how big it will get before it finally breaks!) is the best part of toasting mochi (especially for kids), so it's actually pretty unkind when Rin pops it.

The cartoon was randomly chosen - the colour comes from the 2nd box, from the mochi but I put the 1st pic for the title, the sound...
