Our tendency toward desiring the simplicity of an easy-to-understand, -explain and -control environment interferes with the critical thinking process as it creates a bias against complex or unresolved hypotheses, logical though they may be. It is difficult and therefore unattractive to labor at and admit reliance upon hypotheses we don't understand.
