Sean Buchan is a Colorado-based photographer specializing in beer photography, or “beertography” as he likes to call it. His photographs expose the myriad of colors found in Colorado beers, as well as give you a glimpse into the vivid backdrop in which Colorado beers are produced.

Many of Colorado’s best brew flavors start with hops. These hops are from Voss Farms in Arvada, Colorado, where Cascade, Centennial, Willamette, and Chinook hops are grown. The popping greens scream summer and life.

Picking out a room’s colors can be quite an ordeal. Most of the time, you’re struggling against a common opponent—lighting. However, I’ve found that most people only concern themselves with being aware of the lighting in the paint store, and how that changes the color they see in front of them.

When you bring your color home, there is a pretty good chance it can vary from room to room as well, all due to different color temperatures in your bulbs. Now…why would they do such a thing? Aren’t all the light bulbs in my house supposed to be the same color?

With newer lighting technology come new advancements in color and a wider array of choices. CFL and LED bulbs are available in at least three different values: Soft White, Bright White, and Daylight. Each provides you with the light that you need, but offers it at varying “temperatures.”

So what’s the strategy for getting your color palette to match up with your lighting? First, you’ll want to plan out the look you want for the room in question — the rest falls into place from there.

A couple months ago, Vijay Pandurangan posted the Colours in movie posters since 1914 -- an interactive data visualization that shows the way colours have evolved in the fine art of the movie poster throughout the years.

One of first things you'll probably notice is the prevalence of orange and how the increased use of blue has been a steady trend over the last 100 years. Is this due to printing processes evolving? The shift from hand-painting to photography to computers? Shifts in genre popularity? Or perhaps Hollywood has some sort of fine-tuned scientific process they're using (doubt it ;). Unfortunately those are big questions and this was a side project, but regardless, the information Vijay was able to put together is fantastic.

Recently we came across an interesting topic on Quora: Are there certain colors you can wear to make bees and wasps ignore you? The answers, from people with a variety of expertise on the matter, included some really great tips and we wanted to share the love.

First things first, you should know that bees are attracted to smells more than they are to colors. If you're going to be outdoors with a potential for bees and wasps, it's a good idea to avoid the following:

- perfume
- scented soaps and lotions
- scented laundry detergents

Speaking of laundry detergent, another thing to watch for is detergents that contain UV brighteners. If this is in your detergent, there's a good chance that bees can pick up on it, regardless of what colors you're wearing.

What do they win? Each of the 5 winners will get a 24” x 36” rolled canvas print, courtesy of UPrinting.com! Winners can choose to go with a 2 inch border or no border and they can print a design of their choosing on the canvas. There's a turnaround time of one business day to get the canvas printed.
