Recommended Animations from the COLOURlovers Forum

We love sharing just about as much as we love color, here at COLOURlovers. While we mostly share things about color, that's certainly not all. Everyday the community goes on about its business with people giving each other tips about which color works best or what their latest inspiration is, but other discussions appear all the time, like the basis of today's post, a discussion on animation (a good way to find out what everyone is up to is to check out the latest topics in the forum). I was thrilled to see this topic, which is really more of an ongoing curation of animation titles and links lead by liddle_r. I encourage everyone to check out the thread to see all the recommendations and on add your own favorites. Here are a few of mine:

Dots by Norman McLaren (1940)

Hand drawn sounds. Process video.

Papermation by Jen Stark (2008)

Voices by Joanna Priestley (1985)

Colour Box by Len Lye (1935)

The Bead Game by Ishu Patel (1977)

The cool thing about "Dots" by Norman McLaren (above) is that the sound is drawn directly onto the film.
