RYZ is a very cool design community from our local hood of Portland OR, and we're excited to be doing a joint contest with them around the patterns on our site. It's easy. All you have to do is color one of our pattern templates so that it makes an awesome shoe design and you could win $1,000.
For the Love of Patterns, RYZ & COLOURlovers invite you to design the FIRST PATTERN ONLY SHOE to be included in the RYZ Collection.
How To Enter
1. Use the COLOURlovers' Pattern Tool to create the best pattern on the block. (We put all the patterns we can use for this contest in one category in our pattern tool.)
2. Once you have your colors just right, publish the pattern to save it.
3. On the viewing page for your pattern cick the Download the RYZ Show Template button.
4. Save the template to your computer and then upload it on the RYZ site.
You can upload as many patterns as you want, so clear your calendar for the next week until June 30th when submissions end.
Voting begins July 1st and will end July 14th. The winner will be announced July 20th. Check here for more details.
Only 3 designs max. per participant can make it into the final round - the voting cycle. 18 designs will make it into the voting round and only 1 will take home the grand prize - $750 cash and $250 store credit to the RYZ shop - plus free sponsored memberships at COLOURlovers.

Also, what are the rules about creating patterns with other people's palettes? I worry that someone will want to use one of their own palettes but another person may have already submitted a pattern using it. This could cause some conflict or resentment between lovers.

I cannot see any to download the template... is this valid just for the US?

Great but when try to upload my design it says:
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaang.
Files must be in PNG format.
But my files are in PNG format

What's the link to the pattern you're trying to upload as the template?

Make sure the files you're trying to upload actually have the .png file extension on the end. My computer sometimes cuts them off, especially if I change the name of the file, and saves the file without an extension. Then I have to manually add the extension for the file to be recognized.

ok maybe I'm just being technologically impaired, but i still can't seem to download the templates. I get this message that the files are illegal or damaged? help.

the patterns are still uploaded after the error (files must be png format). The site is having problems with all of the participants. Also, the rendering of the shoe takes up to a day to work.Good luck everyone!

Once you upload them, disregard that daaaaaang message, and instead go over to the tab for your work. Your pattern will be there. Then you name the shoe design and once it renders you can publish it. I went through uploads several times before I figured out the file was in fact there.

My first upload went fine and rendered quickly, but my subsequent uploads have never rendered. It thinks about it, then just sits there with a grayed-out avatar and a picture of a clock.
I waited a couple of hours, but it still hasn't generated any pictures.
Anyone else having this problem?
Running Firefox 3.0.11.

Ok, once again I need more techonlogical help. When I click download RYZ template , I get this pop up saying I need to buy Corel Paint Shop Pro. I'm I doing something wrong?

Hey CL community - Scott from RYZ here - first thank you all for an awesome start to our competition - yes, you guys are giving us so much love that it's making me work extra hard keeping our rendering system going - but the designs are looking awesome. Okay mine finally rendered :]
I don't know how long it took, but I was away all weekend and when I came back they were done.
Those of you having trouble with the site thinking your files aren't .png, are you using IE?
