Eness, the interactive designers and "electronic puppets" based in Melbourne, Austria Australia, has a very impressive portfolio filled with colorful, thought provoking installations. Their work often involves motion tracking systems together with custom software and projectors, which allows them to project on any shaped surface. Their signature display features eyes, which the collective has a strong fascination with based around the idea of "an innate collective-subconscious functioning that causes hundreds of eyes to move in unison to concentrate on the same focal point. Aware of the gaze of the people around you, your curiosity leads you to turn to look in the same direction." Here's a look at some of their best projects explained in their own words.

LightScraper

More of a destination than a sculpture, the LightScraper is a towering vortex of visuals and sound feeding off it’s surroundings.

Featuring real-time 3D graphics and a human motion tracking system, the LightScraper explores new forms of engagement with technology and ultimately each other. The closer we go, the higher the glow.

The LightScraper is a custom built aluminium structure, fabricated with a layer or semi-translucent mesh. The structure can be easily erected in various compositions in an outdoor or indoor setting.

A single computer and two projectors are use to bring the sculptures visuals to life. The LightScraper also acts as a giant musical instrument, people’s location influence the melodies emitting from the sculpture.

Visitor's position is tracked via an infrared camera mounted at the peak of the structure, and transposed into musical notes, the result is ever-changing melodies and visual delight.

Arctic Sanctuary

ENESS responds to climate change with an exploration into virtual chilliness and digital frostbite. Arctic Sanctuary is an exhibit of skewed illumination and interactive art - projection technology layered with playful elements.

Far away from the enveloping urban landscape, Arctic Sanctuary engages with movement and stillness to create snowmen and mountain ranges. Delve closer and a fish orchestra will play you a unique musical composition while reindeer and bunnies edge towards a source of.....

While the moon eclipses, amusing animated penguins ruffle their feathers and seals take the carnival stage – bobbing balls in unison. The forest is in proximity and creative digits generate ribbons for forest foliage.

An installation for all ages and weather conditions, Arctic Sanctuary is a southern splendour that begs touring experiential bodies.

Natural Capital

Artificial illumination reigns to produce a sublime environment that works diligently to interact with a spectrum of the human senses. An exploration of the space will tap into personal theories relating to natural capital and our worldview in relation to climate change – a term that is embedded with infinite meaning and consequence.

A stylized projected tree, with a dedicated purpose to retrieve vital information of the public’s concern for the future, matures organically in response to a metaphorical fertilizer – insert a leaf and observe immediate evolution, an engrossing possibility for eco-systems of the world in need of nurturing. This installation serves as a temporary bastion for positive change, treasure your Natural Capital.

The Color of Snow

Using our own proprietary software “Pixile” we can match video projections onto most shapes and surfaces. Once calibrated, the spheres can spin in any direction by user interaction. Notice how the spheres are rotating against one another like cogs, this is achieved by applying simulating real world physical properties including gravity, mass and friction.
