Orange evokes a variety of emotions and is said to stir up controversy more than any other color out there. It is a color that is definitely vibrant and is associated with energy, fun and warmth. It is used in many restaurants due its ability to stimulate ones appetite, which I found to be quite interesting. So, perhaps this may be a color that you may want to reserve for your kitchen or dining room.

orange is used in fast food restaurants to make people feel hungry. same with yellow and red.
i think it depends on the shade and texture of the color to be called something. i love pumpkin orange, as it makes me think of fall and hearty food.

Orange is my favorite color EVER. It hurts me to see it being used less and less, and non risk-taking colors (like grey) being used more and more.

Orange is my favorite color & I love that it's considered controversal. (=

Orange is my fave too, but to be honest I don't mind if it maintains a little rarity. I'd rather everyone not use it everywhere. That makes it more special to me, but I am glad it's more accepted now as a respectable, viable color and not just something for construction, highlighters, and neon signs.
