Single Pixel Color Inspiration From Photos


If you're looking for a new way to find color inspiration in your photos, try this simple Photoshop technique to pull out colors from a single pixel line and create some unique color artworks... there are so many vastly different results from the same images depending on where you select the single pixel line. Try it out:

Photoshop Instructions

-Open Any Photo You Want
-Use the Single Row Marquee Tool & Select a Single Pixel Row
-Transform (CTRL+T) & Stretch to Full Height
-Then Use Filter > Artistic > Dry Brush

Great idea. It could help when you find an awesome photo that you want as art in your house, and you want to decorate the room around it, with the same colors.

First this post made me frustrated. You all know when you open a page at CL and you are too impatient to wait while it loads, you see these lines when you scroll down. I thought this page would never load... But hey, it was all a part of the artwork. Maybe I should try to zen down and see the dial up lines as something to appreciate too.

In old-school Amiga and PC demos (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoscene) from around 1992, there were effects like this, which would traverse an entire image from top to bottom in a few seconds.
