Our guide isn't an exact science, depending on our monitor color calibration, brightness and even how good our eyes are... we all see a slightly different color. So, we took the color names that are used most often and best guessed the appropriate colors based on web standards and common usage.

Do You Agree or Disagree?
The above colors are based on common use in web standards... Do you think our Salmon is a bit too Peach? Maybe our Forest Green is a bit too Grass? Show us your suggestions for commonly used color names.

I agree with lizcrimson about magenta, chartruse & mauve.
I agree with liddle_r about forest green.

whew! such definite opinions - fascinating
I think depending on whether you are a print or web designer (or painter or colour-er, whathaveyou)
will definitely shape your perception of what is correct.
For me, there are very clearly defined PMS and Hex numbers when I am creating something that I will have to communicate to a printer or a monitor. Those sort of things can't be 'left up to interpretation' when the client has chosen something - and that's the something you better deliver!

I've always thought of crimson being more of a scarlet: darker and with a little more orange in it. What they have in this article feels more like, I don't know, some berry-like pink. Also, mauve is DEFINETELY more brownish/pink, and very dull, kind of like a darker puce, I NEVER imagined mauve looking like that.
Beige feels a tad too green, too soft, and too light. In addition, indigo always seemed to me to be more blue than what is shown.
But, then again, what people consider certain color names to be can very from person to person drastically. Just giving my opinion of what color names I associate with which shade.

Yalls RGB is Forest Green RGB: 34, 139, 34, The CMYK was 47, 0, 100, 0
but when converted in Adobe InDesign CS 4 (
Which I do every time I come here because I do print design) came out as
83, 21, 100, 8. Should this be addressed? Thanks!

The mauve offered above looks more like lilac.
Crimson is too pinkish. I think it's a dark scarlet-red:
