The Colors of Where You Live
It isn't exactly where I live, but I find myself in Albuquerque, New Mexico tonight and it is hard to ignore the magnificent colors that this part of the US shows at around sunset. For the locals they refer to their town as "enchanted" and the hills are nicknamed the Spanish word for watermelon because of how vibrant of a pink they turn at sunset.

So what are the colors of where you live? It doesn't have to be as big as your city's colors... it could be the colors of your street with mostly standard colors, but that one house with the red door... or maybe it is the colors of the house you grew up in... maybe it is the colors of the city streets outside...

Here is a Palette Story from COLOURlover.
I find myself in the Southwestern US again and even though I'm generally not a fan of the area, I can't help but love the mountains. Maybe it is from growing up in Hawaii with Mauna Kea dominating the southern skyline, but I find comfort in the mountains. Maybe it is a grounding thing to see such massive things. I'm not sure what it is about them, but I find myself drawn to living where they are. This palette is inspired by the colours of the pink and rosey hues of the unset here in New Mexico.

It's based on a photo I took on my way to the gym early one morning here in Odenton, MD (21113).

Out of all of the architecture of New York my favorite building be the Chrysler Building. In side and out it is the finest example of Art Deco architecture. Looking at it makes me feel as though I'm transported back in time.

We have autumn here in Cape Town now, and the weather is still warm, but there is a slight chill in the air at night. It gets dark earlier, but we have these loooooooong evenings with the sunlight coming in low from the west and hitting clouds, buildings and trees from an unusual angle. The light is yellow and orange, and everything gets a warm soft glow.

My inspiration pic was one from my living room with my daughter and my cat! It is certainly where I live. I love finding beautiful colours in the everyday things that surround us.

I'm really gonna miss it around here when I move.
right now this is how things look outside. grey sky, dead leave, dead grass and the woods across the street.
For those who don't know, I live in Connecticut. Right along the shore and a good amount of the time It's pretty grey around here but I couldn't love it more.

hopefully this one works. If not I'll need a helping hand

If you catch downtown Toronto at the right time of day the contrast between the historic buildings and sky is unbelievable. This pic is a great representation of the business district and its professional feeling.

i live in an area that used to be the black swamp, just southwest of lake erie. there is a very muddy river and a lot of fertile farm land, and lots of clay.

I just moved to Grosse Pointe from Chicago... my parents grew up here and there is a strong sense of coming home when I can pass by their old high school or jog by the house that my dad grew up in. They aren't my stories, but they are my roots.

These are the colors of where I live, New Orleans. At first I thought about using Mardi Gras colors, or night sky, but what I eventually made is from the colors of an old building - bricks, peeling painted plaster, moss, and maybe a little mold...

These are the colors I see around Columbia, South Carolina after the azaleas are over but before the crepe myrtles bloom: green foliage and red brick houses. The yellow is inspired by both the trim on the houses and some flowers that are still blooming.

I'm in Michigan, where spring is still struggling to assert herself. Trees are bare except for the evergreens, and the view would be uninspiring except for the presence of the sunlight, making everything explode with hidden beauty.

So, here is the view out of my window: Bergisches Land, Germany.

Pale blue skies, green grass (almost neon at this time of year), fresh green and blossoming trees (amazingly green because we have a lot of rain in here), very old houses in black and white with green shutters. Home sweet home.
